PACKRAFTING MYALL LAKES

The overlapping of seasonal activities occurs for a brief, though special time for us. One week could see us labouring headlong into blizzard conditions in search of late season skiing opportunities, the next, paddling under a blazing sun on coastal estuaries.

This weekend saw the latter with a Packraft trip to Johnsons Beach on Myall Lakes. Truth be told, it was a lazy weekend away as we celebrated Dana's birthday in the relative peace and quiet of a deserted campsite. We loaded as much gear as we dared into the rafts for the stupidly short 1 kilometre paddle from Violet hill boat ramp over to Johnsons beach camping area.

With an esky full of beer, champagne and an array of fancy food, we sank back into beach chairs and simply did nothing at all. Watching the sun go down was beautiful and the afternoon melted away with laughter and memories of old times.

I'll let the pictures tell the story......
